Meet Mr. RAJAT KUMAR ppl...
Who is Rajat?Well, I must confess my own knowledge on his identity, existence, and personality is extremely limited, and possibly untrue. But it's very interesting indeed.
This is one character who has suddenly started calling me up everyday almost, for the last three-four days, for absolutely no reason(nothing logical or understandable) and at amazing frquencies with an amazing resilience. I've just no clue who he is, but the first time he called me up, it was tuesday I guess, he immediately asked for me by my name. When I asked who he was he proudly replied with his name and expected me to be satisfied with it, as if he was the President of USA!
Anyway, my "So?" as the reply probably irked him a little, and he said "I'm Rajat" again.
"So how can I help you Mr. Rajat?"
"I want to talk to you...."
"Me?..about what?"
"I want to talk to you and be friends with you..tele friends"
Now this was a new one, the excuse I mean. Tele-frnds!!!!!
I said "I'm sorry, but I don't really talk to arbit strangers, and am not interested in tele friendship at all" and hung up. He called back, I rejected the call. Few minutes later call from another number, another landline, same guy.
"What crap is this, Mr. whoever-you-are!"
"Rajat"
"Whatever....look i told you I'm not interested..."
"But I am." Huh?
"Do you even know who i'm? And who told you my name? And where did u get my number from?"
"A friend gave me your number....."
"Who?"
"Sorry I cant tell that..."
"Then I'm sorry as well...Look i've plenty of work to do, just get lost and don't call me back...."
I hung up. An attempted call. I switched off the phone.
Next evening.
Another landline number. same guy.
"Hi! This is Rajat...Remember?"
Shitttt.........
"Look what do you want mister..i told you yesterday I'm absolutely not interested in talking to arbit strangers and any frndships with ghosts..."
"I'm not a ghost, and everybody is a stranger before becoming a friend..."
!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Shut up, would you?"
"Arey aap gussa kyon ho rahe ho...maine kuch galat kaha kya?"
"Huh! Listen for the last and final time, whoever you are..."
"Rajat"
"I know one hundred Rajats, the name is not important.....just pls pls stop bugging me.
My exams start tomorrow, lemme study for heavens' sake"
"OK...study well"
Hangs up.
Half an hour later...
" Abhi tak pad rahi ho, kitna padti ho!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

What a character....after this I've rejected scores of calls, yelled at him, almost abused him, threatened with police, told him to get lost, but nothing works...It just doesn't affect Mr. Calm!
Excerpts from other conversations, inc. a seven-minute patience-testing call tonite...
"How do you know me waise?"
"I've seen you. maine aapko CP pe dekha tha.."
"Kab?"
"Two weeks back"
I haven't been to CP for over three months!!!!
I told him, this, he said I'm lying!

"So u call up every girl u supposedly see everyday?"
"No"
"Kaunsa dost, ye nahi batayenge?"
"Nope...aur kuch poochhna hai to poochh lo..about me, whatever you wanna know!"

Still, I now know his college/course/year.
His question:
"Which college are you from?"

"Didn't your friend tell you this?"
"No...I don't ask people for info on girls. Main kya ladkiyon ke bare mien details pata karta rehta hoon?"
Yeah, right!!!!
"Which year are you?"
"Whichever it is, but senior than you"(He's in first yr, acc to him)
"Final yr?"
"Yes"
And a gem, opening line of the evening....
"Now you know me na..."
"What? excuse me?"
"Aj meri foto DT ke front page pe ayi hai. Proves I'm a good guy."

Haven't actually seen the paper, I don't think I will, but this just proves TOI sucks!!!!!
Have been wondering what to do with him..meanwhile this is what I tried finally a few hours back.
Was in ex-hall. When he called up again(!), said hello, said hold a sec, and handed over the phone to a guy sitting nearby, with qiock whispered instructions to talk 'something', some arbit nonsense with this Mr. Fevicol.
Now that's the best part. Usne itni darawani awaz mein hello bola samne se usne fone hi kat diya ek minute ke baad, without uttering a word! Tab se ek bhi call nahi aya, abt tak!

Now I suspect very strongly it's a cheap attempt at a prank by someone I know, possibly a friend, probably an IITDian. I can't say much. But it's too stupid! However, if this is true, I really wanna know who this guy is, if only to satisfy my curiosity that who in IITD could be this "jobless" during minors. Speaking of minors, I think I should leave this post here only. I've got a minor for the shittiest course in IITD tomorrow, and I don't wanna let Mr. Rajat make me flunk! So everything else about the story has to wait......

why the hell is no one supporting Mr. Rajat here. I mean... he is trying his level best to impress you and get into your good books. You are being completely insensitive towards his feelings. His reasons are pretty obvious but can you blame him for them? As far as his methods are concerned he is adopting the safest possible path. He is not trying to offend you in any manner. You know the problem with India... too many geeta raos(HKA) in here..

Not being a consistent blogger I would'nt expect you to know me, nevertheless, seeing such a simplistic issue being miscued, misconstrued and literally manhandled by so many of these, u blogging intellectuals, i cant but resist penning down a piece of my mind. Its actually sickening to see just a single blogger(this ravi handa dude! keep it up man!) writing any sensible stuff.
The question arises, what are blogs? are they a media to take up a cue from an individual and keep harping on it(especially if the individual is a lady...shame on all you chivalrous walnuts for brains). Do u even possess brains of your own? I mean, atleast look at it you guys as a normal guy would do. Lets consider the question here in a purely objective light, the lady here in question is an IITian(not that i do not know what material they are made of, being a sad party to having tolerated a few of them in my time), moreover, Mr. Rajat Kumar seems to be this diffident young man who isnt too well versed in the art of wooing a lady. What is understandable is the woman's raving and ranting given her natural disposition and her equally natural lack of level-headed thinking, but whats wrong with the guys? havent you all ever dreamt of a lady? i know, all of you didnt have the guts to go ahead and tell her what you dreamt of, so condemn one who has the guts to do the same? How fair is that?
Mr Rajat Kumar has been fair in his own rights to be very decent with the lady, unlike the lady who has shown no consideration for him. I can understand that she might not want his friendship, but all he wud have really asked for was a patient hearing(read 5 minutes of an incoming phone-call). Instead the lady has gone with a tirade of comments on him, abuses and threats and then made him laughing stock by blogging the issue. Anyways, the lady herself isnt important here, the issue is independant blogging. Blogging is a new and constructive medium of expression and discussion thats come along, and let us endeavour to keep it free from biased thinking even if the case may be of acting chivalrous.

Ok i ve been in a similar situation and i didnt find it flattering or amusing. I understand if the guy wants to talk ..if he's seen you or something..but not getting the message.

Does she have a liability of talking to and indulge whoever wangts to be her "friend" ? If she considers the method adopted by Rajat as inappropriate, he should accept it and move on and not stalk her as he is doing.

Hey, look u got me wrong on an important count. You're overlooking the huuuuuuuuuuugggggggggeeee possibility that this whole issue is meant to be JUST a prank. I mean u don't know me personally, so i better tell u that i'm not exactly mirror-cracking material that a random guy who sees me once(which itself seems untrue because he says the only time he's seen me is at CP on someday, while t's a fact that I havent been to that place for over months!!!!), will go this crazy about me.
I've no reason whatsoever to believe his "reasons" being genuine, even if it were, i haven't exactly emptied my entire knowledge of abuses from him(hardly anythign except shut up and get lost for heqaven's sake!!!). I have been trying to hear him out too, to see if there's any substance in what he says(total conversation time with him>20 minutes) although I have refused plenty of his calls.
But when all he says is "I wanna be frnds with you, I've 'heard' u're very bful, and some crap". what do u want me to do?

Good question, extremely brilliant. Congratulations for ur thoughtfulness. I only wished u ahd raised the issue at a better occassion. Nevertheless, I disaggree with u that they are a platform to yell to the world how 'morally-righteous' you are, or are not. I anyway believe morality is highly relative, and at least blogs are where u can freely express wat u want to. That's why i have o probs with u or ravi saying wat u did, but pls dont blame the others here.

I am an iitd student and had been wanting to talk to an iitian girl who i had noticed around a lot many times and and somehow felt intrigued by her persona. I'd been trying to find out who this girl is. Trying in the sense that i asked a few freinds and juniors i could spot around when i saw her sometimes. But none knew who she was. Now i do realise that it is rather awkward to talk to a stranger but since i could find no linkage otherwise (since the past half year) so yesterday, i gathered courage to appraoch her while she was walking towards Himadri. I had just said 'excuse me' when she went franatic " excuse me, whats your problem"...i was so turned off but i said " i just wanted to..." but before i could add any more she started walking away fast and repeated "whats your problem, go away" !!!!
I wanted to tell her "you better mind your atitude girl" but then thought i wasnt interested in having conversation with her in any case so why waste my advice (as if she would have cared!).
I had a college bag on my shoulders and even otherwise we have exchanged glances before so i believe she'd guess that i am an iit student. I completely fail to understand this!!! I was on a bike if that is any useful information and she had seen me go past her, take a U and then turn back to talk to her.
She could have atleast heard me and said no. All i would have asked was that i found her intrguing and would want to know if she would want to have a conversation sometime.
I am not hinting at your case and your behaviour but would definnitely want to get your perspective on why she would have done what she did. Might help me if i am to ever try this again (this was the first time ever!) on any other female!!

Trust me, watever u tell me, or we talk of, would remain as "anonymous" as u want. And it's certainly far far better. Sounds like tele-marketing scam. These have become quite popular in the US - where they target indians, and talk in a friendly manner as if they have always known you.
