Kismat

Berang sa samaa tha
Khamosh sa jahaan tha
Lab muskura rahe the magar
Dil khoya jane kahaan tha

Shor tha awaaz nahi
Ant tha agaaz nahi
Khali thi gehraiyan ankhon ki
Shabd the par saaz nahi

Zindagi usko bhi kehte the
Lamhe usmein bhi rehte the
Dil se ho ya aankhon se
Aansu to tab bhi behte the

Phir unhone aake jeena sikha diya
Har saans ka mujhko mayna sikhna diya
Rang bhar diya meri muskurahat mein
Zindagi ko meri aayana dikha diya

Phir maine suni apne dil ki awaaz
Phir maine jana is jahaan ka raaz
Jhalki gehraiyaan aankhon mein
Phir hua zindagi ka asli agaaz.

Jab unko jana, khudko pehchana
Dil ko mila dhadakne ka bahaana
Rooh ne jaana ehsaas kya hai
Samay ne seekha lamhe sajaana

Yehi to hai zindagi, kehkar gaye
Kuch pal is dil mein rehkar gaye
Par jaana to tha hi shayad unhe
Achha hai jo mere paar, behkar gaye

Ab dil ko bhi aata hai rona shiddat se
Muskuraiye nahi to kya, hum muddat se
Phir bhi khush hain kyunki, jante hain ye
Woh beete pal chhin bhi mile the humko kismat se.

Liked "Zindagi ko meri aayana dikha diya" most...also flowed really well from there onwards!

Also went beautifully with the theme...:
"Jab unko jana, khudko pehchana"

"Samay ne seekha lamhe sajaana"

Nice nazm!

you are so comfortavle in expressing both with hindi and english...and that is truly commendable

lovely verses...and i enjoy ur hindi work more maybe cause itz once in a time thing :)

some lines by Munir Niazi that i liked

zindaa rahen to kyaa hai jo mar jaayen ham to kyaa
duniyaa mein Khaamoshi se guzar jaayen ham to kyaa

hastii hi apani kya hai zamaane ke saamane
ek Khvaab hain jahaan mein bikhar jaayen ham to kyaa

ab kaun muntazir hai hamaare liye vahaan
shaam aa gaii hai laut ke ghar jaayen ham to kyaa

dil ki Khalish to saath rahegi tamaam umr
dariyaa-e-Gam ke paar utar jaayen ham to kyaa

beautiful post

Thank you!

I like the aayana idea too. To me the third and the seventh stanzas flow well.
but anyway this was a rather random work....and like almost every other time i never 'think' before writing..it's sjust one-shot, so its not very good..

Great lines. I dont remember reading much by Munir Niazi before.

Writing with me has become a rarer thing these days...i just cant write well any more.

Oh yes, "Achha hai jo mere paar, behkar gaye" was a gem too! a new metaphor I think...

This was wonderful...fabulous....i just couldn't break away from the smooth flow of it...it only takes a innate poet to write those remarkable lines that leave their imprints on the heart. beautiful beyond expression.

By the time I came to comment, almost all words of appreciation are already made use of: wonderful, fabulous, beautiful, a gem, commendable, flows really well!
What should I say? I'm awestruck.

liked 3rd and 4th stanza the most.

the idea behind that line was in my head since a stanza before, but i still feel something is wrong with the choice of words there... :(

Thank you for your appreciation. Seen you here after a rather long time!
I'm no poet though...I'm just a frivolous freelancer and these days i write so much less than i used to!
Still, thank you for ur words..maybe i shd write more and get better...as far as this piece is concerned, it's basically the flow that is endearing.

[The Introvert]
Pulling my leg, are you? This is not awestruck material.
thanks nevertheless...
