Signs, symbols, signals?
I don't know why,
but I think I do.
Sometimes, I think, the future
sinks into us in the present
One or more moments before
the moment that is to come.
sinks into us in the present
One or more moments before
the moment that is to come.
Like driving down a deserted alley
on a dark night without lights
Just before you turn the corner
you know you'd crash into something.
Yet you do nothing of course
And wait for the crash to happen
Even if you did, it wouldn't have mattered
Some things are definitely inevitable.
And wait for the crash to happen
Even if you did, it wouldn't have mattered
Some things are definitely inevitable.
And that is life to me
Full of magical 'coincidences' that felt just right
Full of omens that made me believe
It's all gonna fit in perfect.
And just as well, life is
about sinister intuitions and vague hints
Now, honey, I'm gonna turn the tide.
Now, next, is the corner where you'd crash.
about sinister intuitions and vague hints
Now, honey, I'm gonna turn the tide.
Now, next, is the corner where you'd crash.
Yet again, I know. Yet, again, I shall wait.
And do nothing, of course.
Life's set for an inevitable crash
Says thus the omens.
And do nothing, of course.
Life's set for an inevitable crash
Says thus the omens.

whew babes , roller coaster ride .. but wonderful :)
it must hve taken a lot of "fitting" for sure to have such a display format :)
dont know why but i always feel that "omen" word always carries this negative vibe with it
i think many of us believe in these hints...but how many are able to comprehend them or observe thts different

That, in short, is life.Roller coaster, but wonderful.

Naah, just have to hit "left/right/centre" align!
Omens can be good too...read Alchemist :P
At least i have a strangely strong belief in them...so I notice them too
Sinister intuitions and vague hints! So that's where the sense of life as gambling and gaming comes from. And this poem actually glorifies gambling, kind of like, first omens are believed in, made sense of, and then they are ignored - exciting!
ahhhh.... Alchemist...read tht one...n though i hold nothin against d book n i like it too..but all i have to say...it was a looooooooong drag at the end...n dont kill me for tht :)
just curious...last lines being at centre signifies something????

Interesting interpretation..but it's true....everything is a gamble...glorious or not isnt upto me to comment...but this knowing ignorance is a fact, dont you think?
You'd se aspects of it everywhere....for example, every sem just before exams...
Perhaps its in line with the theory that we got to make sm mistake even knowing they would be mistakes just to know it really was a mistake.

Sort of a drag, but not too much,...way better than many other books so I wd take it anyway. myabe i am forgiving because its not a veryyyyy long bookso u dont curse the drag that much
Yes, the structure has a significance...guess?
significance.....hmm something wid d wait and doing nothing
meant it to mean that pal ! :D
As lovely as ever! :) :)
Something very ominous about it all...the words, the structure...I almost felt I was going to crash by the end of it...
'The future sinks into us in the present One or more moments before the moment that is to come'
True indeed,to a great extent.Perhaps more so for the good moments rather than the bad ones, atleast as far as my personal experience goes(I'm talking about good moments and bad moments in very relative terms though...considering it's difficult to define them).Or may be we sense the bad omens but yet chose to do nothing about it,sometimes out of sheer laziness perhaps.
Ofcourse life would be far less fun if we managed to figure out every moment before it actually occurred.
Waiting for you to disclose the significance of the structure(alignment) though.....
[desperado]
Well, in a vague sort of way...the first sets of lines are structured alternatively at the left and the right ends in a way thoughts like these collide in our head...random..high speed...hitting the walls alternately like tennis balls...and once the thought is developed fully, when it comes to do something about it or take the next action...there comes the last four lines...as a sort of bottom line..a defining end to a weird thought process, that comes softer...in the centre..one at a time...with the degree of finality.
Infact, interestingly the picture I had in my head while i was writing was indeed of driving on a dark road...and I was imagining driving fast, rashly, in the darkness, going from the left end of he road to the right...such that the crach down the corner is inevitable.....

Thanx!

Maybe your imagination works the same high-pitched way as well :)

Nice seeing you around!
Yeah you are right....we somehow sense good moments clearer than bad ones..or at least we regiter and respond to them clearly...while the bad ones are confused with too many bad feelings anyway, an unknown fear, or sadness of other sorts....Subconsciously I feel, bad omens also scare us a bit, and so we are reluctant or at least slow to act...while good ones give us more hope so we are ready to try smthng more often than not.
But yes I compeltely agree, there would be no point in living if the future would be completely known
nice.
The omens and the portents they reveal only to those who understand the divine dance of destiny.
The future is uncertain and treacherous. But sometimes we can have a glimsp at it. But not always and sometimes all foretelling proves to be vain. And that is as it should be. The three sister of fate weaving the thread of life, making a pattern here and another there. The wheel ever turns.
interesting :)
and congrats to "it"..u work man :D
enjoy...n keep driving d thoughts..just be safe n dont crash....better still crash at blogger :P
wow, amazing comment johney...!
omens....well I have a story to tell. One of my friends had come over. After chatting for sometime we decided to go out n roam on his new bike. Just before he was about to unpark his bike a black cat crossed our way. I jokingly told him that we shouldn't go out now...it'd b unlucky. He laughed it off and started taking his bike out...as soon as he removed its stand he lost balance and the bike fell down. He wasn't hurt at all...but the new bike got scratches n the rear view mirror broke to pieces.
Since then, I believe in omens - both good n bad.

ah well...there are two things that struck me immediately when i read your comment first...first being the phrase "sisters of fate" why three sisters...is the feminine always to be associated with a mysterious, disturbing, potentially harmful activity like weaving fate...
the second thing being the universality of these patterns...yet remains the selectivity of vidion for only some, and only sometimes....
[desperado]
cool..somebody understood the structure!
[sarthak]
Ah...sometimes I feel the line between omens and so-called superstitions are very thing...yet again, what works for anyone is beyond comprehension...
i dont know why
but recently i started believing in them too. this is wat people call growing up. :P
Growing older and more and more supersititious?
