A desire to fly unhindered, alone
Another to snuggle in the cosiness of bounds...
One to embrace a limitless sky
Another to stand firm on the grounds!
Conflicts of desires are whimsical functions
Of time and being, of place and mind.
Though neither desires nor conflicts are trivial;
The story of life doesn't have a rewind.
A half of me is fraught in this war
The other half seeks peace and respite.
A half of me just wants it all
The other struggles to get past the night.
A half of me tries and struggles
to be, to give, to achieve, to smile.
The other half seeks comfort in pain
Fatigued, in dejection, watching ills pile.
I'm the half that wins, I'm the half that loses
and I'm the void in between that grows without a goal
I'm the outsider inside me who watches with sadness
How two halves don't always make a whole.

Nice....
Loved the line "The story of life doesn't have a rewind"...... sometimes you really wish it did!
this post deserves just one thing--
a thunderous applause.
"The story of life doesn't have a rewind"......
In one line,
my dilemma summarised.
awesome poem... and the last stanza is really amazing. This post deserves a place in the "definitive oldies" section, I guess :) .. just that it is a newdie and not an oldie ..oops..PJ :P
Really loved the line "The story of life doesnt have a rewind" the last stanza reminded me of one of the poems I.. by Meridith Brooks..sexy stuff as usual dude!
[rohanjain]
Thanks...
yeah sometimes...sometimes you really wish life was a movie running in VLC that needed just a teeny weeny effort to go back to the good scenes..

:)
thank you..it's after quite a while i like something i wrote too...
but dont live in that dilemma...what ifs are truly the worst.

"I'm the outsider inside me who watches with sadness
How two halves don't always make a whole."
:)
Found the poem good...
yeah.... and you also wish there were a fast forward and stop button too........
sexy composition (yup just like all your others tagged under poetry)
"How two halves don't always make a whole."
you wonder...
A desire to fly unhindered, alone
Another to snuggle in the cosiness of bounds...
The two aren't really conflicting emotions.
Yaar, one half sees comfort in pain and the other has to struggle with happiness? Why are you so sad yaar? Cheer up! :D
Although I found some thoughts of the poem negative, I must applaud your craft in poetry: it's unsurpassable!
After a long time you are in your essence :-)
[vibhav]
Thank you. Aap ko kuch to pasand aya.
:)
[rohanjain]
And delete/backspace?
[vartika]
Thanks sweetheart. Yeah, one wonders, a lot.

They aren't necessarily conflicting emotions, yet desires that do not compliment each other. Life you know, wants all of it and more. :)
I am not sad, maybe my poetry is a bit, at times, but it's got shades of happiness and sorrow, struggle and peace co-existing. Maybe thats what life is anyway. I am ,at the very least, not as simple as you. :)
And also, not as unsarpassable as you would have me believe :)

I felt it too, but then, after a long time i see you around as well...:)
I'm the half that wins, I'm the half that loses
and I'm the void in between that grows without a goal

Most AMAZING lines I have read! I have recently heard a saying that goes:
'True wisdom is knowing when you cannot be wise.'
Your poem reflects just that.
Naturally, life only had happiness. Sadness, doubts etc are not normal - instead they are accepted only because they are common. One doens't have to make a balance of good and evil in themselves, instead kick the evil out - if you want to, that is...
[prude]
Thank you. My favorite lines too.
The whole point of the poem. An unwise poem by an unwise person, who knows it's okay not to always be wise. :)

Beautiful worldview for one. It is said that every person constructs his own reality, every single bit of the internal and external worlds by there own paradigms and parameters. Your constructions are far more beautiful than mine, but in the end, it really boils down to keeping and discarding what you really want to keep and discard, right. It's just deciding the levels at which you'd accept something.
back to ur poetic half!!
half and half is much more than the sum, it is something tht is commonly know as synergy. I call it God :)
wow tht was one hell of a peice .. great words entwined in to something very very meaningful ..
two faces or a million ..life jus moves on ..
tc. ;)
Too too good! No comments. I fall short of words.
[oracle]
:D :D
Synergy, harmony and God should make halves bigger than one, then how come they fall so short? Do I not have the synergy, do I not have God?
Life should be gestalt..greater than parts...not even less!
[anuj]
:) Thanks. Meaning...thats all in the readers mind...words are just random patterns of ink on paper (or pixels on computer screen)
Life, you're right, just moves on.
[tapasya]
Arey, utni bhi achhi nahi hai...but thanks anyway ma'am.
This is one of the best poem I have read for a while now... Truly wonderful!!
Wonder not, The Outsider, for you.. you- the friction between the two, are what makes the sum of two halves less than one!
Beautiful poem btw.
loved this...and its to true! 2 halves dun always make a whole.
Keshi.
Oh well, to each his own!
Hey dear... Very well said... Each line and each stanza is a clear reflection of how a human being survives in confusion and haziness to seek the light...
I loved these lines though
"A half of me tries and struggles
to be, to give, to achieve, to smile.
The other half seeks comfort in pain
Fatigued, in dejection, watching ills pile."
The two halves make a whole by the cord filled with void which leads from one half to other! And realisation of self often happens in that void!!!
Cheers!!!!
Nd yes.. u can remove Eagles diary from ur click me.. the Eagle flew away!!!
[jeya anand]
Thank you. Good to see you here. Hope you've been good
[vik]
Briliant interpretation, yes perhaps..me..the outsider me..is the reason me is not complete. I live inside myself as an outsider, how ironical is that. No wonder there's a void.
[keshi]
Thanks, yeah...strange but simple arithematic doesnt work everywhere in life.
[akshay]
Well :)
[anushree]
That's your reading which makes the lines and stanzas so meaningful and a reflection of reality, as you see it. I don't really know if the void connects or disconnets, but yeah the void is where most of the understanding happens.
[anonymous]
Had realised that, I hope you;d be back.
The Eagle is still there... but this time not in anonymity.... I hope you know by now.. who is it.:)
send me an email address for an invite at elucidate_i@yahoo.co.in
