Murder

How do you kill a kiddo? Simple...tell her, no yell to her, in her face till she's convinced, that all her dreams of her perfect fairy-tale world are false and illusory.

Show her the gruesome reality, the absence of faith, the farcical "forevers", the shallowness of love, the need to be selfish and then put the balm of practicality on it. And voila, you have a slightly hurt slightly shocked slightly jittery much grown up dreamless new member of your society, one who never again dreams of selfless compassion, the good of sharing and the Prince Charming.

You do this everyday, don't you?

Hey...no!
Kiddos never die.
They just recede
in a corner deep,
and instead of evenings,
go out at nights,
and continue to play
the same ol' game.

I nearly wanted to say what Vibhav said above.. but of course I don't have words as good, but bottomline is .. "Kiddos never die", and there is always a section of the world that is like a perfect fairy-tale world.

And relax princess, dream, be impractical, enjoy love and fantasise utopia. You have no idea that you are actually ADDING something good (in spirit) to a world staggering with false rules and confusion.

In case anyone/anything makes you feel that people have to look at "harsh" reality in the eye and lead a practical life, remember that the annoyingly practical, sticking to "callous realism philosphies" etc are exactly the sort of people who'll burn out of life very quickly, find everyhthing boring, blame (n-1) people (where n is the total number of people in the world) for their failure, come up with gruesome philosophies to destroy young, hopeful, on-the-right-path bubbles and finally die of hypertension or wasting, burdening dieseases.

Dreams are not guilty, unreal pleasures. Be positive, there will be a link soon between dreams and reality. For example, I am the most impractical person in IIT, three years down the line my CV will have nothing impressive to show, but I am also the happiest of 'em all! ;)

Thats not killing a kiddo, thats even worse. You are converting her into a zombie, like millions others, without any dreams, without any feelings.

To save kiddo, just tell her how to dream.

And kiddos are so brave
they're not even scared of the dark
In fact, they light up the shadows for the night. :P
