Dedicated to HRD Minister

Mr. Arjun Singh, you seriously need a brain transplant.
Now the HRD minister wants quota for IIT faculty!!! For heaven's sake!!
This is the height of ridicule. There's already reservation for all staff and now students in IIT. And as of the latter wasn't already going to diminish the standards and brand of this place, you now want faculty to get the caste flag. How divisive politics can be! This makes me so angry I want to kill him. And it's absolutely senseless too. Already we do not have the 'best' faculty owing to the low salary bars the govt fixes for IIT professors. Now, everything will be destroyed. Seriously, is this the British Empire days in disguise, divide India, rule India???
And this time, I can't see which vote bank he's trying to pander to, either. The number of people who potentially benefit from this move would be abysmally low, and the OBC community is enough appeased by whatever has already happened. But just the thought of something so outrageous in his head is disgusting for every single person with an ounce of brain in his head. It's like buying sub standard machinery to make guns during war time.

This govt, powerless enough to control inflation and powerless enough to go through with probably the only good thing they have brought up, the nuclear deal, has it now sold out the country too?!?!

hope this doesn't reduce the 10-15% faculty members who are good... the future of IITs is anyway in question with the n number of IITs being added and probably more will be, soon

This is horrible:(
IIT will go down in the dumps...and it was one thing India could truly be proud of...
Don't they realise this way they are only increasing the discrimination which otherwise would have anyway faded away...really do none of the polititians have an ounce of pride for India? If they stood up against this they would created a good name for thmeselves for saving the IITs

Now he´ll have OBC reservations even in toilets. Ah there is the considerate exception when the GEN category user has an abnormally swollen bladder: in that case, he MAY use the empty OBC pee-bowl :P:P

I know...already so much of the faculty is poor...I just dont wanna imagine th kind of political balances at all levels that will start coming into picture..no student's, even OBC students' parents would want less than best education for their kids...why ruin faculty...then iit is not iit anymore...entire reservtion becomes pointless!!!

[doc]
I hope not. I SO hope not. Someone kill him.

Neither can I. Maybe just wants to bring the issue back in limelight. Sucks...
I dont think faculty wd come out openly against it..they're govt employess n unions nahi hain yahan, neither faculeties mein nor students.
This is so depressing...

[vik]
!! Scary.

I'm glad I'm not in Civil.

[chandu]

Absolutely. Basically, the meaning of equal opportunity now is that u make everything mediocre...so nobody gets anything better than the other. Ridiculous hai..i just dont understand...why is IIT such a guinea pig for this govt...peechhe pad gaye hain!!!!

[orange]

It would have been funny if it wasnt so tragic!!
I s hope the OBC vote does not go on any of this...I mean if the Indian public stops voting on caste affiliations...bas merit pe kaam kare...ek bar...all this will end there n then. Just one election, I wish everyone eligible votes (esp the educated, student sections) and votes on merit..no dalit for dalit sikh for sikh...all political parties will learn.
