Scuttling back and forth, filling up stacks
of sentences, the written word
Underlined with emotions
that gleam in the sight
and yet fail to breathe
loitering around as the emoticons
sometimes excessive, mostly inflated
sometimes ignored, always inadequate

You really pick on offbeat stuff. Always inadequate, those emoticons.
:) :D
I donno, but I dont seem to be able to do without them. :-)
:) Worlds or words?
:D Nice post.
:( I actually like emoticons.
Is written conversation possible without them? Possibly with people who know you and who you know inside out. Possibly not even with them. Do such pairs of people even exist, anyway? Am I still writing a comment on this post? Whatever!
PS: Avoiding emoticons was hard even in this comment. I did try, though (I force myself here not to put one.)
curt but effective.
I enjoy them!:P

Offbeat, but not entirely off color. Always inadequate, yes. Always.

Hmm. Inadequate.

They underline emotions, partially at least. :) Not easy to live without.

Words, about worlds? Symbols, about them too?!!
I never said I dislike them. Plus they have a half-said half-meant mystery factor.

For people like us that grew up on chat and sms lingo....the textual conversation...it's an inherent part of that...people have started writing them in answers in their examinations. And i am not surprised u r so addicted to them :)
Right, :D ??

Well, that was the point.
