Dispensable

Sometimes you want to laugh
at yourself
for being so foolish, so naive
so as to believe.
And wish.
To want is one thing,
it's probably human
to want fervently is forgivable too
but to want so much that
you're ready
to give yourself up
is foolish. And silly.
You can hope
that you'd be needed
just the way you need
and loved the way you love.
You can hope, but you can't
expect not to be disappointed
more often than not.
You can hope otherwise, but you are
still utterly dispensable
more often than not
to everyone.
Just like everyone is, to you.
Almost.
